The brand boasts of three interlacing construction types that currently shape its boards. The Econoline is Black Label’s lower-priced merchandise consisting of standard seven-ply decks. The Blacklight treatment makes use of variously thick laminates integrated into the 7-ply build, enabling for thinner but stronger boards. The most recent treatment is the Powerbeam technology, which features vertically laminated wood cores to provide structural stiffness and enhances and prolongs that ever-required “pop” among skate rats.
Powerbeam can be applied on Blacklight-enhanced boards, which supposedly makes these boards stronger to withstand all the roughness of skateboarding. Depending on the circumstances, Black Label boards can indeed be hard to snap, although the paint chips easily. Some boards are also heavier than others, which affects flip ability and efficiency. The underdeveloped concave also makes it a more inferior choice for buyers. However, Black Label boards respond well to slide tricks. It is clearly not one of the best picks, but as far as skateboarding is concerned, it serves its purpose well enough.
